Conductive Materials in Two-Stage Food Waste Fermentation for Enhanced Biogas Production Waste-to-Energy technologies, specifically anaerobic digestion combined with dark fermentation, offer a sustainable solution for managing food waste while generating energy. In this study, the impact of three different conductive materials (CMs) on hydrogen (H₂) and methane (CH₄) production in a two-stage fermentation process (TSFP) was explored. Results demonstrate that combining multiple CMs enhances biogas production with magnetite nanoparticles notably boosting H₂ yield and overall energy production, while powdered activated carbon significantly improves CH₄ production. These CMs offer the potential to stimulate microbial activities, improve process performance, and enhancing biological metabolisms within the TSFP. Reference
