Deep Eutectic Solvents for Improved Carbon Capture Fossil fuel-powered energy generation, vital since the industrial revolution, contributes to climate change due to high atmospheric CO2 levels. To address this, carbon capture technologies are evolving. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are third-generation carbon dioxide (CO2) absorbents considered for carbon capture from fossil fuel combustion processes. These solvents contain hydrogen bond acceptors and donors and offer distinct advantages over amines and ionic liquids. In this study, unique DESs containing amine groups have been synthesized. The novel compounds have the ability to absorb CO2 at a high level and have improved physicochemical properties. Reference
