Exploring Borocarbonitride for Supercapacitor Electrodes

Supercapacitors are promising systems for energy storage. Novel electrode materials can enhance their energy density. Recently, borocarbonitride (BCN), an advanced nanomaterial, has emerged as an excellent alternative to traditional graphene-based electrodes. It has exceptional electrical conductivity and chemical stability, and a large specific surface area. Now, researchers from Chungbuk National University have reviewed the structural, electronic, chemical, magnetic and mechanical properties, advanced synthesis techniques, and charge storage mechanism of BCN-based supercapacitor electrodes. They also discuss innovative strategies, critical challenges, and future perspectives regarding this technology.
