Ternary Colloidal Quantum Dots for Efficient and Sustainable Optoelectronics

Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) based on the ternary-compound semiconductor AgBiS2 are promising light-absorbing materials. They are nontoxic and have a high absorption coefficient. However, there is a lack of novel strategies for multi-facet passivation of ternary-compound CQDs to manufacture stable CQD inks. Recently, scientists from Chungbuk National University have come up with a ligand passivation strategy using a solution-phase ligand exchange method based on a quadruple-ligand ensemble. The proposed strategy improves the power conversion efficiency and leads to fast device response time, making it promising for efficient lead-free optoelectronics.
