Embark with Hope

Since its establishment on September 27, 1951 as Cheongju Junior Agriculture College, Chungbuk National University comes to celebrate its 59th opening anniversary this year. The founding of Chungbuk National University resulted from the hope of the whole residents, providing higher education demanded by the community, even though through the Korean civil war.

Change for the Future

Chungbuk Provincial College, raised to the status of Chungbuk National University, has continued to grow rapidly and has become an outstanding and leading university in Korea that plays a key role in the field of education and research. In the 1970s, Chungbuk National University, as a national university representing our region, had already prepared a springboard that could take a leap into the future.

Challenge for Development

Chungbuk National University is a national university including 13 Colleges and 8 Graduate Schools. In 1999 Chungbuk National University was selected for Brain Korea 21 Initiative by the Ministry of Education and in 2003 was also selected as the best university in the project of fostering regional university by the Ministry. For further development, Chungbuk National University has planned and carried out "The 6th General Development Project."

Vision Toward the World

With the rapid change of the education environment followed by globalization and with unlimited competition followed by neo-liberalism, Chungbuk National University provides "Project CBNU 2010" to become one of the most innovative universities on the basis of knowledge based information infrastructures, and will become one of the most comparative and globalized universities through the invitation of excellent new students and outstanding new professors, the finest support for education and research of professors, an efficient environment for learning based facilities and industry academic cooperation system, and a supporting administration system.
