Medical Research Information Center

Purpose of Establishment

The Medical Information Center purpose to generate and process the research information of the area of medical science, and to provide it to users as soon as possible so that the Center promotes the level of technology of medical science of Korea and enforces the entire technologies which are necessary to make a healthy society. In addition, the Medical Information Center vitalizes the network among researchers, and thus contributes to the improvement of research environment and plays a role as the important information center in the local community.

Major Activities

• Research activities: The Center carries out the research on development and construction of the medical thesaurus of Korea, the research on the search system, the survey on the actual usage of information services which are provided by the Center and every institution related to the medical science, and etc.
• Education and training activities: Holding academic conferences on the Internet, the Center supports the professional to carry out academic communication easily by utilizing the information technology. Besides, the Center produces various animations and textbooks of medical education in cooperation with the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, so that the Center supports the medical education business.
• Providing of information service: The Korean Medical Database (KMbase) of the Center is one of the typical academic information service which provides the largest bibliography and abstract information related life and medical science in Korea, including primary information service, processing information service and health information service.
